OOoooh it comes with MMC 3.0? I think I'm going to wait a month before deploying it. I have the domain server and an exchange server to update. I tried setting up a win2003 server in VMWare but I can't get the windows updates for some reason.
It says that I have to download WGA, but then when you go to download WGA, it says that it cannot validate because WGA is for XP! So its off to Automatic Updates and let it download that way I guess. When we set up our servers I don't think WGA was out yet. Perhaps there's something I'm missing in this VMWare fresh install.
It's been so long. Said by: Wait before you apply the SP to your Windows Server if you are running Exchange or any other Microsoft server products; they could break with the installation of SP2 and your boss could be asking you for your resignation. Leathal Should we just check back here until you say its ok? No I am sure you guys know better not to upgrade your production boxes until you have tested SP2 on your test networks making sure exchange, sharepoint, and any other applications you have don't fail. But when you start posts like this newbies who come to DSL Reports to browse the forums and read up on things may take your posts the wrong way and go and download and install SP2 without testing it first creating a head ache not only for themselves but the company they work for.

No I am sure you guys know better not to upgrade your production boxes until you have tested SP2 on your test networks making sure exchange, sharepoint, and any other applications you have don't fail. That is an excellent point Leathal and one I trust most seasoned IT Admins hopefully have already done. Installed on a couple of test servers today all had the same issue after the restart.
Service or Device failure to load. So I found that the Help and Support service gave an error out during start up. No big deal just start the service. No such service is installed on the systems at least now the service is not installed. Hmmm well maybe its just a mistake and not that service.
So I select Start Help and Support. I get a message box saying the help and support service could not be start. Please start the help and support service. No such service on any of the upgraded systems. So one more test and yes on this server the help and support is installed and working (pre-SP2) install the SP2 restart. And again Service or Device failure error on restart.
Same thing the Help and Support service cannot be started, Please start the help and support service, which is not listed in the services. See, this is why I'll sit back and watch you guys install for a few months before I dive into it! Like I said before, everything appears to be working, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
